Psychopharmacology
Psychopharmacology is the use of medication to treat mental health conditions. Prescription medications are central to improving most patients’ mental health conditions. Certain patients are treated with medication while others are treated with a combination of medication with psychotherapy. Some patients benefit from the use of both treatment modalities. In certain situations, the best approach is the use of several medications in unison with one another.
If your symptoms are moderate or severe, you can likely benefit from medication. Furthermore, those who do not improve with the use of psychotherapy also stand a good chance of benefitting from medication. It is in your interest to mee with our psychiatrist to determine if you can benefit from prescription medication.
Keep in mind, some patients only have to use medications for ra period of weeks or months. So don’t assume you will be required to take medication every single day for the rest of your life.
